The facts of a personal injury case can be very complicated and difficult to explain and understand without having a thorough discussion about the incident and describing all the events with great detail. Many law firms invest in hiring bilingual secretaries and assistants to help them communicate with new clients but, very often, the lawyer still lacks the capability of speaking directly with the client, asking him/her important questions or, making sure that both the strengths and weaknesses of the case are known early.

Further, I have seen first-hand how important details can get lost when you are using an interpreter to communicate. Even in depositions, where an interpreter is provided to assist a client in answering the questions from the other side’s lawyer, I very often have to interrupt the deposition to make sure that what was actually said is taken down correctly on the record.

The point is, language matters and anyone that says differently is ignoring the truth.
